First Post

My first blog post!!! I’ve been meaning to start a blog for a while now, I had the marvellous idea in the middle of assignment due-ins and exams, and although I am a master at procrastination- I decided a start-up blog was taking it a biiiiit too far. So here I am, in Mexico, in my LAST EVER 4 month holidays, with a part time summer internship and a relative good amount of free time, starting a blog!

I thought my first post should include two things: a bit about myself and what I will be writing about.

Who am I? I am a 20 year old girl, in my second year at University of Bath, studying business administration. I am what people call a ‘Third Culture Kid’: ‘a person who has spent a significant part of his or her developmental years outside the parents' culture’.

To put that into context, I have several answers to the question ‘Where are you from?’ The short answer and the one I use the most is: I was born in Uruguay and raised around South America. The long answer, which few people really know ( and I promise to bore you with, just this one time) is the following:

I was born in Uruguay. My sister was born in Argentina. My Dad was born in Fiji, but his parents are from Australia/ Tonga. My Mum was born in Uruguay, but her parents are from Belgium. They (my parents) met in Switzerland, studying hotel management. Consequently, my life is a never ending journey (literally), I’ve packed up my bags and moved countries more times than an average citizen, lived in houses and in hotels, been in all sorts of schools, been to amazing places and met incredible people. My life so far, is summarized in the timeline below:

0 yrs-2 yrs: Montevideo, Uruguay (2 yrs)

2 yrs -7 yrs: Buenos Aires, Argentina (5 yrs)

7yrs -10yrs: Acapulco, Mexico (3 yrs)

10yrs -14yrs: São Paulo, Brasil (4 yrs)

14yrs -16yrs: Mendoza, Argentina (2 yrs)

16yrs-18yrs: São Paulo, Brasil ( 2 yrs)

18yrs-20yrs: Bath, United Kingdom (2 yrs) (6 Months in Sydney, Australia)

And that, is the reason behind my blog's title: International Soul.

What am I going to write about? Anything and everything really; trips, food, politics, marketing topics, fitness, photogaphy or any random thoughts that cross my mind. I will try to stay away from all the fashion side of blogging , I won’t be having “Today’s look” or any of those fashion bloggers trends...as much as I love following fashion blogs, writing about it is just not “me”.

This blog will ultimately be a place to write my thoughts, feelings and a record of my life.

xxx, Tatiana
